THE GREAT MOMENTS WE SHARED
Let not my sweet
memories depart
From you. Write
them on the tablet of your heart,
For they are the
seals that bind our love together.
Forget not also
the memories
The special
memories of those moments
You and I shared
together,
For they are the
hope of our future
If for nothin’
at all, they remind us of somethin’;
Something
special about our love
Treasure also
those unforgettable times we’ve had
When you and I
stood in a tight embrace endlessly and on end
And your gentle
and tender hands wrapped ‘round me
So firmly that
air refused to blow in between us.
Sweetheart, the
success of our love journey
Hinges on the
special moments we shared together
Collect them
one-by-one and securely lock them together
In a safest
safe, for we will need them in times of trouble
Yes! We’ll need
them in mending those cracks
That may develop
on the walls of our relationship
Those unique
moments are there to remind us
That, that you
and I are inseparable.
Whenever I go
wrong, remember
When you begin
to observe the normal wear and tear
In a growing
relationship like ours, remember
Remember those
priceless memories you and I created together
Honey, look how
far we’ve come and cherish
Those great
moments you and I shared together,
For they are the
foundation of our love.
MY LOVE’S LABOUR ENDS
I promised her
my love, my attention,
My affection, my protection,
her whole life.
And from
ovulation to menstruation;
From prenatal to
postnatal she’ll be my wife.
And being her
near and dear sympathizer I’ll always pity her.
And, for her,
throughout the nine-month journey, I’ll be there.
And when her
travails finally yield tranquil victory;
I’ll sigh and
profess with a voice, which is satisfactory:
Oh wise wife
wipe your tiring tears and weep no more,
For happiness
has duly dawned on us this very day.
Even so, the
cost for your laborious labour no one can pay.
My red cloths
can now be gladly taken off; I must wear the white ones,
For she’s been
at the crossroads of life and death and back; and twice …
SUGAR AND KOKO
As I put the
right amount of
Imperfect sugar
Into the right
amount of
Tasteless Koko
To get a perfect
Koko
For breakfast
While she also
put the right amount of
Imperfect salt
Into the right
amount of
Tasteless soup
To make a
perfect soup,
I reminded her
of this:
No one is
perfect.
But, I think,
when two right imperfect
Individuals
understand each other's imperfection
And agree to
walk with each other in unison,
Regardless of
their faults, they either become perfect
Or something
near perfection! Love, in all respects,
Makes the
impossible possible, remember.
MEET THE MOST POWERFUL LADY
Now listen!
There are ladies
and there are ladies
But she is
unique
He who finds her
finds true happiness
Most people
wouldn’t agree with me
But that’s no
fault of mine
As you can see,
They can’t see
What I see
And they can’t hear
What I hear
Beauty in its
simplified form
This can only be
found in her
I must admit,
she is beauty personified
Yes, she is
beautiful
Both within and
without
I can’t even
resist her charm
Her splendor and
her glamor
They are the
delight of my heart
For her smile is
a balm, a soothing balm,
A balm that
heals,
That takes away
all my pains
In her presence
there is comfort
And I can’t
afford to do without her
All your
‘doings’ are magnificent
A lady of virtue
is a lady of beauty
Actually, your
nature radiate peace
Your caring
tender heart is a loving sweet heart
You now know why
I call you sweetheart?
You are both
caring and loving—
What a perfect
combination!
With this
combination, no one
And I repeat no
one
Can sabotage
your success,
Your success in
both marriage and life
You’ll
definitely go far
There is no
force on earth or in space
That can resist
the combined forces
Of beauty and
education,
Virtue, love and
care
Fortunately for
you
You boast all
these forces
That’s why you
are unstoppable
You’re, indeed,
expensive
Oh my priceless
beauty
You are
exceptional among ladies
Why shouldn’t I
love you?
I want you to
tell me
You are unique
and I like your uniqueness!
THE RIGHT-AND-WRONG
TRUTH
Once upon a time
I was young and I was wrong.
Was I young because I was wrong?
Or was I wrong because I was young?
I think I was young because I was wrong
And I was wrong because I was young;
For I could not be young if I were not wrong
And I could not be wrong if I were not young.
The young are wrong and ‘the wrong’ are young.
So define me without ‘young’ and I am not young.
Define me without ‘wrong’ and I am not young.
So young and wrong are one; and one is young and wrong?
And once
I was old and I was right.
Was I old because I was right?
Or was I right because I was old?
I think I was old because I was right
And I was right because I was old
For I could not be old if I were not right
And I could not be right if I were not old.
The old are right and ‘the right’ are old.
So define me without ‘old’ and I am not right.
Define me without ‘right’ and I am not old.
So old and right are one; and one is old and right?
Now
Who would be my just judge?
Are ‘the young’ always wrong?
Are ‘the wrong’ always young?
Are ‘the old’ always right?
Are ‘the right’ always old?
The young can be right
And the right can be young.
And the old can be wrong
And the wrong can be old.
And I was old enough to know this old
Right-and-wrong truth.
